Built in the English Renaissance style, City Hall opened in 1906. A year after Cardiff was granted its city status. Within there are pretty rooms for conferences, functions and event organisers. Cardiff City Hall offers a great venue for large-scale events. Yet smaller rooms are available for more fond gatherings. Such a property would be ideal for energy efficient controls.
Cardiff City Hall was committed to a reduction in CO2. In the first place they needed to find energy efficient controls. Secondly it would have to have a quick ROI. With rising energy costs there is a drive to reduce costs. In addition to meet the carbon targest, SavaControls helped the City Hall’s finances.
Many of the emissions came from lighting, heating and refrigeration. At the present time lighting and heating these can be improved by installing new technology. Finding technology which can be retrofitted into older stock is another hurdle. On the positive side SavaWatt’s solution is ideally suited to retrofits. Uniquely they can be installed with minimal disruption to day to day activities.
Several sites were identified as ‘quick wins’ at an early stage. The results from these installations encouraged the council to continue with the roll out of SavaWatt Controls across Cardiff.
